Creating an urban design course for postgraduate students at UNSW

Role: Learning Content Designer, Lab Instructor

In planning out future city development, urban designers need to engage with different stakeholders in planning exercises to make sure that their vision aligns with the needs of the community. The School of Built Environment, University of New South Wales, wanted a course that equipped urban design students with the negotiation and workshop skills they need in order to participate in these planning exercises effectively.

I developed a course based on Geodesign, a collaborative planning framework that came out of Harvard Graduate School of Design which uses maps and geospatial data to help stakeholders investigate the different needs and challenges of a project site.

I designed the course syllabus, learning outcomes, assessments, created lecture presentations, secured guest lecturers, produced lab instruction materials, and served as workshop facilitator and lab instructor.
